LNG's Safety RecordThe liquefied natural gas industry has an exemplary, decades-long safety record. LNG carriers have logged more than 60,000,000 miles encompassing more than 40,000 ocean voyages during the last 40 years without a single incident resulting in harm to the public.
More than 40 LNG receiving terminals are currently in operation around the globe. (At last count, 113 LNG facilities of all kinds were hard at work in the United States.) Many facilities are located in densely populated areas. Japan & Korea have imported most of their energy in the form of LNG for the past quarter-century. During the same period, LNG cargoes have been delivered through the heart of downtown Boston without incident. |
