As proposed, Bradwood Landing addresses issues of need, reliability, affordability and environmental stewardship.
Location:
- At approximately River Mile 38 between Astoria and Clatskanie on the Columbia River on an historically suitable location (for decades the site of a sawmill); currently zoned “marine-industrial” and a State of Oregon approved port site.
Facility Type:
- Technologically advanced receiving terminal for natural gas
Capacity:
- Peak sendout capacity of 1.3 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas
- Tank storage (2 tanks)
Safety:
- LNG shipped in double-hulled carriers using state-of-the-art navigation equipment
- LNG stored in un-pressurized double-walled tanks
Market Served:
Economic Impact:
- Local source of safe, clean, reliable, affordable natural gas
-
An estimated $580 million will be spent in building Bradwood Landing
- Will contribute approximately $7.8 million annually to local economy in taxes and port fees
- Will average 450 high-paying construction jobs during three-year construction period; totaling two million work-hours
- Will create 65 full-time jobs, averaging $60,000 per year once operational
- When complete, will require an estimated $30 million annual operating budget, much of which will be spent within the region
- Has underwritten Workers in Welding jobs program, a unique skills-building program that will enable area residents to participate in the building of the terminal
Environmental Impact:
- Each of the elements of Bradwood Landing’s comprehensive environmental management plan exceeds required standards.
- Avoiding and minimizing impacts wherever and whenever possible
- Mitigating impacts “above and beyond,” that compensate well in excess (10:1 ratio) of unavoidable impacts
- The Salmon Enhancement Initiative, $59 million program designed to revitalize local salmon stock and create an environmental net-benefit
