As proposed, Bradwood Landing addresses issues of need, reliability, affordability and environmental stewardship.

 

Location:

  • At approximately River Mile 38 between Astoria and Clatskanie on the Columbia River on an historically suitable location (for decades the site of a sawmill); currently zoned “marine-industrial” and a State of Oregon approved port site.

 

Facility Type:

  • Technologically advanced receiving terminal for natural gas

 

Capacity:

  • Peak sendout capacity of 1.3 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas
  • Tank storage (2 tanks)

 

Safety:

  • LNG shipped in double-hulled carriers using state-of-the-art navigation equipment
  • LNG stored in un-pressurized double-walled tanks

 

Market Served:

  • Pacific Northwest

 

Economic Impact:

  • Local source of safe, clean, reliable, affordable natural gas
  • An estimated $580 million will be spent in building Bradwood Landing
  • Will contribute approximately $7.8 million annually to local economy in taxes and port fees
  • Will average 450 high-paying construction jobs during three-year construction period; totaling two million work-hours
  • Will create 65 full-time jobs, averaging $60,000 per year once operational
  • When complete, will require an estimated $30 million annual operating budget, much of which will be spent within the region
  • Has underwritten Workers in Welding jobs program, a unique skills-building program that will enable area residents to participate in the building of the terminal

 

Environmental Impact:

  • Each of the elements of Bradwood Landing’s comprehensive environmental management plan exceeds required standards.
  • Avoiding and minimizing impacts wherever and whenever possible
  • Mitigating impacts “above and beyond,” that compensate well in excess (10:1 ratio) of unavoidable impacts
  • The Salmon Enhancement Initiative, $59 million program designed to revitalize local salmon stock and create an environmental net-benefit
