Jobs, Education & Taxes

Bradwood Landing will create hundreds of good jobs, will improve funding for local schools and government services and will pump millions into the local economy.

  • Hundreds of Good Jobs
Bradwood Landing will create about 450 construction jobs during three years of terminal and pipeline construction and an estimated 65 jobs averaging $60,000 a year once it's built.
  • Skilled Union Labor
Bradwood Landing is currently negotiating a Project Labor Agreement with the Oregon Building Trades Council which will result in employment for hundreds of highly skilled, union trades-people from throughout the region to build Bradwood Landing.
  • More Tugs, More Jobs
In addition to the construction and operational jobs, Bradwood Landing will lease several new tug boats from local area to service ships calling on Bradwood Landing. Dozens of crewmen will be required to operate the tugs, pumping at least $4 million per year into the local community. When the tugs are not in use for Bradwood Landing, they will be available to assist other maritime users enhancing maritime safety throughout the region.
  • More Funding for Schools, Services
Bradwood Landing will pay millions a year in local property taxes and port fees, significantly strengthening the tax base for local schools and other government services in the community. This important new source of revenue, for example, will help pay bonds that fund the Knappa School District. In addition, Bradwood Landing will reduce local bond levy rates, reducing future tax burdens for area residents.

  • Job Training and Education
Bradwood Landing is developing partnership with Clatsop Community College in Astoria and Lower Columbia Community College in Longview to facilitate job-training and apprenticeship programs to ensure that local people have the job skills and training necessary for construction and full-time jobs at Bradwood Landing.
  • Millions Spent Locally
During the three years of construction, Bradwood Landing will spend an estimated $580 million to build Bradwood Landing and following completion close to $30 million a year to operate it. The result will be millions of dollars pumped directly into the local economy for everything from local contracting, supplies, procurement and materials, to housing, food, lodging, recreation and entertainment. Whenever possible, Bradwood Landing is committed to buying from and using local businesses.
  • Global Supply, Local Benefits
The natural gas imported through Bradwood Landing will have a dampening effect on natural gas prices throughout the region. This supply increase will reduce natural gas price volatility, helping hold down energy costs for both residential and business consumers.
