Avoiding And Minimizing Impacts

From its inception, Bradwood Landing has had preservation of the environment foremost in mind, as exemplified by its reconfiguring the facility’s original footprint to 40 acres, less than 10% of the Bradwood property – and conserving as much of the remainder of that acreage as possible.

Specific avoidance and minimization techniques at our facility include reducing number of pier pilings needed, which in turn reduces in-water construction. Construction will occur when the fewest fish are present. And further impacts will be avoided by employing state and federally approved screened water intakes at the facility.

Bradwood is applying best management practices to minimize sedimentation impacts from dredging and dredge-disposal activities. We are employing directional-drilling technology to minimize impacts from pipeline construction. And we are committed to restoring wetlands and vegetative cover after construction.

Not only will Bradwood Landing use low-intensity, directional lighting to minimize light pollution; the terminal’s storage tanks will actually be camouflaged to blend into their surroundings.
